Al-Sharḥ al-MumtiʿIbn al-'Uthaymin

Isfahan and entering al-Jazira between Syria and Iraq. His sole concern will be Medina, for it is home to the Bearer of Glad Tidings and the Warner ﷺ. He will wish to destroy the people of Medina, but he will be barred from it, as is authentically established from the Prophet ﷺ: angels stand guarding each of its gates. (1)

He will emerge from a passage between Syria and Iraq, (2) and seventy thousand Jews of Isfahan will follow him, (3) for they are his soldiers. The Jews are among the most wicked servants of Allah, while he is the most misguided of Allah’s servants. Thus, they will follow him, support him, and aid him, serving as his mobilized troops, along with others who follow them.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “O servants of Allah, remain steadfast …” (4) He ﷺ exhorts us to steadfastness because the matter is grave. He ﷺ also said: “Whoever hears of the Dajjal should keep far away from him, for a man may come to him as a believer, yet he will continue casting doubts before him until he follows him.” (5)

That is, a person may come to him saying, “He will not lead me astray, nor will I be affected by him.” Yet he will continue casting doubts before him until he follows him—may Allah protect us.
