“…had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you were averse to the truth.” [Al-Zukhruf]
Thus, they will undoubtedly suffer pain, and the heat of the Fire will affect their bodies outwardly and inwardly. Allah Most High says in His Mighty Book:
“Indeed, those who disbelieve in Our signs—We will cast them into a Fire. Whenever their skins are burned through, We will replace them with other skins so that they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is Ever-Mighty, All-Wise.” [Al-Nisa]
This is clear: the outer parts of their bodies will suffer and be burned through. Allah Most High also says:
“And if they seek relief, they will be given relief with water like molten metal, which will scald their faces.” [Al-Kahf: 29]
The scorching of the face and flesh is well known. Thus, when they seek relief, they will be given “water like molten metal” [Al-Kahf: 29] only after a long time. When this water approaches their faces, it will scorch them, causing them to fall away—may Allah protect us. When they drink it, it will tear apart their intestines, as Allah Most High says:
“And they will be given scalding water to drink, which will sever their intestines.” [Muhammad: 15]
This is the punishment of the inward parts. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning the least severely punished of the inhabitants of the Fire: “He will be in a shallow place of Fire, wearing two sandals from which his brain will boil.” (1) If the brain is boiling, then what of the parts beneath it, which are closer to the sandals? This is clear evidence that they suffer pain and that this Fire affects them. Allah Most High says:
“Taste the punishment of the burning Fire.” [Al-Hajj: 22]
That is, the Fire which burns. The verses and hadiths concerning this are numerous.
The fourth point: Are there two Fires: one for the people of disbelief, and another for the people of tawhid who are punished therein and then brought out?
