82. ʿAmmār ibn Naṣr narrated to us; Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd transmitted it; Khālid ibn Abī Bakr told me, from al-Ḥasan, that a young man once passed by him wearing an elegant outfit. He called out to him and said, “Son of Adam—so proud of his youth, so proud of his beauty! It is as though the grave has already enfolded your body and as though you have already encountered death. Woe to you! Mend your heart, for what Allah demands of His servants is the soundness of their hearts.”
