- Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Abī Bakr transmitted the report; ʿUbādah ibn al-Walīd al-Qurashī—on the authority of Muqātil ibn Ḥayyān—commented on the verse, “and the earth brings forth its burdens” (Qur’an 99:2). He said: “Its ‘burdens’ are the dead; the earth will disgorge them from its belly so that they lie upon its surface.”
