- Muhammad narrated to us; Dawud ibn al-Muhabbar transmitted; Salih al-Mari narrated from Yazid al-Raqashi, from Abu ‘Aliyah, who said, “The dead person will be resurrected in his shrouds.”
Dawud said, “I heard Salih al-Mari add, after relating this report, ‘It has reached me that they will emerge from their graves in grimy shrouds, their bodies worn out, their faces disfigured, their hair unkempt, their limbs wasted away, their hearts fluttering between their chests and their throats. The people will not know what fate awaits them until they disperse from the Standing ⦗85⦘—one taken away to the Garden and another to the Fire.’
Then Salih cried out at the top of his voice, ‘Alas for that wretched departure! If You do not envelop us in Your boundless mercy, our hearts will surely collapse under the burden of the grievous sins and crimes for which none can grant pardon but You.’
