- Muḥammad narrated to me; Muḥammad ibn Yaʿlā narrated to us; al-Munkadir ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir reported: “We were attending a funeral with Ṣafwān ibn Sulaym, and among those present were my father, Abū Ḥāzim, and a group of other devoted worshippers. After the funeral prayer had been performed, Ṣafwān said, ‘As for this man, his deeds have now ceased, and he is in need of the supplication of those he has left behind.’ By Allah, he caused everyone there to weep.”
٤٣- حدثني محمد ثنا محمد بن يعلى حدثني المنكدر بن محمد ابن المنكدر قال كنا مع صفوان بن سليم في جنازة وفيها أبي وأبو حازم وذكر نفرا من العباد فلما صل عليها قال صفوان أما هذا فقد انقطعت أعماله واحتاج إلى دعاء من خلفه من بعده فأبكى والله القوم جميعا.
