- Muḥammad narrated to me; Yaḥyā ibn Basṭām narrated to us; ʿUmārah ibn Abī Shuʿayb, on the authority of Mālik ibn Dīnār, reported: “We were with al-Ḥasan at a funeral when he heard a man ⦗69⦘ ask another, ‘Who is the deceased?’ Al-Ḥasan replied, ‘It is me and you—may Allah have mercy on you. You are merely being kept back until the last of us catches up with the first of them.’”
٣٦- حدثني محمد حدثني يحيى بن بسطام ثنا عمارة بن أبي شعيب عن مالك بن دينار قال كنا مع الحسن في جنازة فسمع رجلا ⦗٦٩⦘ يقول لآخر من هذا الميت فقال الحسن هذا أنا وأنت رحمك الله أنتم محبوسون على آخرنا حتى يلحق آخرنا بأولهم.
