- Saʿid ibn Muhammad al-Jarmi narrated to us; Abu ʿUbaydah al-Haddad reported, from Ashras, from Thabit, who said: “In the past, when we followed a funeral procession, we would see nothing but someone with his cloak pulled over his head—either weeping or at least visibly grieved. Yet today you may see the bier borne on their shoulders while one of them is actually laughing.”
