270 – ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad related: “I read an inscription on the wall of a palace in the Greater ʿAqīq Valley, beside the palace of ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr. It said:

How many a monarch inherited this palace,
Only to die, and the next heir followed in his wake.”
