258 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; Abu Muḥammad al-Siyyāṭ transmitted it and said: “I heard Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Walīd say: ‘When he died, the Kaʿbah collapsed. While clearing the debris they discovered ⦗190⦘ a brick, and on it was an inscription in Hebrew that read:
“Beware the throes of death and prepare for what comes after it, for the sting of death is irresistible; the inhabitant of the graves never returns, and the Angel of Death is a commanded servant who never defies.”’”}
