257 – Abu Bakr said: “I came upon a small slip of paper at a funeral, and written on it were the words: ‘You have devoted all your ambition to this world and forgotten how swiftly death descends. By Allah, a dark day of death will surely overtake you, erasing from your memory the long years of comfort you once enjoyed. You will regret it then, but regret will avail you nothing. Beware, beware, beware before death strikes without warning and you find yourself neighbored by those whose bodies have decayed.’”
