232 – ʿAli ibn Muhammad al-Basri told me, ʿUbayd Allah ibn al-ʿAbbas told me, and my father Aṣlaḥ ibn al-Wajīh said: I inscribed on the grave of my father and my brother, both of whom died in Fars:
The eminent Ṣāliḥ al-Wajīh—remember him well,
and bid all humanity to mourn his loss.
He hurried on ahead, leading the way among us;
once, by his righteousness, he lived in perfect safety.
But death has swept him from that security—
behold, here lies the son, and here the father.
