- Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn Abī Salamah conveyed it; from ʿUmar ibn Sulaymān, who said:
“A Jewish man died while holding in trust a deposit that belonged to a Muslim. The Jew’s son, who was himself a Muslim, did not know where the deposit had been placed. He consulted Shuʿayb al-Jubbāʾī, who told him, ‘Go to Barahūt. Below it there is a spring that ceases to flow on the Sabbath. When it dries up on Saturday ⦗60⦘, walk across its bed until you reach another spring there. Then call your father; he will answer you, and you may ask him whatever you need.’
The man did as he was instructed. He went to the spring, called out to his father two or three times, and the father responded. He asked, ‘Where is the deposit that belongs to so-and-so?’ The father replied, ‘It is beneath the door lintel; return it to its owner, and remain firm upon the path you are following.’”
