226 – Abu Khuzaymah al-Namari reported: A young maidservant belonging to a member of the family of al-Muhallab died, and he had often conversed with her. He wrote on her grave:
O grave whose niche now holds one whose life was brief—
how excellent you are, O grave!
What grieves us—her untimely death—is in truth best for her,
and for us the recompense and reward are better still.
