213 – Muḥammad told me: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUqbah ibn Abī al-Ṣaḥbāʾ narrated to me. He said, “I read the following inscription on a grave in Tarsus, near the Gate of Jihad:

I have left this world behind and come to my Lord;
so, my Lord, forgive the sins I sent ahead.

He ordered me to certain deeds and forbade me others,
but I defied Him in both, and now I lie in anguish.”
