211 – Muḥammad said: Isḥāq ibn Ḥakīm narrated to me; an old man told us: “We stopped beside a cemetery on the road to Syria, and on one of the graves I read these words: ⦗165⦘

Can anyone stand surety for a youth who has forsaken sin?
I myself shrink from the weight of guaranteeing his salvation.
There were those who obeyed Allah and found true repose;
they never had to swallow the bitter draughts of disobedience.”
