201 – Muhammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; Ibrāhīm ibn al-Shammās al-Samarqandī transmitted; a man of Banū ʿIjl known as Abū Bakr told me: “I was passing through one of the districts of Yemen when I came upon two imposing graves with a hewn rock set between them, and inscribed upon it were the words:

These are the graves of Ḥimyar’s two great lords;
They have decayed in the soil beneath the dust.
Death consumed them with its relentless strokes,
And death will raze every lofty crest.”
