In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
He is sufficient for us and the best Guardian.
1- Abu Bakr ʿAbd Allah ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd al-Qurashī, known as Ibn Abī al-Dunyā (may Allah have mercy on him), related to us. He said: Muhammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm al-ʿAbdī narrated to us; al-Ḥasan al-Juʿfī told me: I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār say:
“I once went out with the master reciter Ḥassān ibn Abī Ḥassān to visit the graves. When we came within sight of them, a tear escaped him. He then turned to me and said, ‘O Mālik, these are the armies of the dead, waiting here until the rest of the living join them. Then a single cry will be sounded, and—behold!—they will all rise, looking on.’”
Mālik put his hand on his head, wept, and kept repeating, “Wā-ī azān rūz, wā-ī azān rūz,” meaning: “Woe to that Day, woe to that Day.”
