193 – Abū Ḥātim narrated to me; I heard Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm say: I heard ʿĀʾid ibn Sharāḥīl relate that Ibn al-Mubārak said:

He who has adorned the distant and the near alike,
Raising them ever higher, tier after tier,
Perhaps a day will come when you recall the graves,
O you who hope to remain forever here.
You have drunk—so know that what you tasted was cold iron;
Inevitably you will meet what is good, and something even more dear.
