18. ʿAmmār ibn Naṣr al-Marwazī narrated to us. Baqiyyah transmitted from Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from Yazīd ibn Sharīḥ, that he heard a voice coming from a grave, saying:

“If today you behold people like ourselves, remember that we too were once like you—your equals in life, resembling you in every way. Now that wide wilderness is swept by the winds, while we lie shut away in a barrier, unable to reach you. None of us who are here will ever return. Those are our dwellings, and they are indeed your final abode.”
