13. Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; Ḥakīm ibn Jaʿfar transmitted; I heard Ṣāliḥ al-Marrī relate:

“I once entered the graveyard on an unbearably hot day. I looked at the silent mounds, as though they belonged to a people struck dumb. I said, ‘Glory be to Allah! Who will reunite your souls with your bodies after they have been parted, then give you life again, and after such prolonged decay raise you anew?’

Then a voice called out from among those pits: ‘O Ṣāliḥ! Among His signs is that the heavens and the earth stand firm by His command; then, when He summons you with a single call from the earth, you will suddenly emerge.’

By Allah, I fell upon my face, overwhelmed with fear at that sound.”
