120 – Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; Abu ʿAbd Allah al-Marwazi narrated to us; Salamah Abu Salih narrated to us; Kinanah ibn Jablah al-Sulami told me. He said: Yazid al-Raqashi said:

“Look at these graves—lines stretching along the courtyards of our houses. Their plots lie side by side, their burial sites are close together, yet meeting them is far removed. They have taken up residence and left the place desolate; they have ‘built’ and yet made it a ruin. Who has ever heard of an inhabitant who brings loneliness, or of a builder who lays waste? Such are the people of the graves.”
