116 – Abu Hisham narrated to us; Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated to us; from Abu Malik al-Ashjaʿi; from Abu Hazim; from Abu Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a grave that had only just been filled in and remarked, “Two brief rakʿahs (units of prayer) are better for this person than all that you are now digging or carrying.” Abu Hisham was uncertain about the precise wording, but he understood it to mean that, were those two rakʿahs to be added to the deceased’s record of deeds, they would be dearer to him than a great abundance of worldly blessing.
