110 – Azhar ibn Marwan al-Raqashi related to us, saying: Shamla ibn Hizzal narrated: I heard al-Hasan at a funeral attended by al-Farazdaq, while the people were gathered round the grave discussing death. Al-Hasan asked, “O Abu Firas, what have you prepared for that Day?” He replied, “The testimony that there is no god but Allah—something I have upheld for eighty years.” Al-Hasan said, “Hold fast to it and rejoice.” Abu Muhammad added: Some of our companions report that al-Farazdaq then recited those three verses, whereupon al-Hasan wept.
