He also composed, in praise of him (1)—may Allah bless him and be pleased with him:
The truth has become plain; no excuse remains for any excuse-maker,
And whoever possesses insight has certainly perceived it.
Its fragrance has spread throughout existence,
So the whole universe now breathes the sweetness of its perfumed breeze.
Its brilliance flashed across the horizon; at once
The darkness of falsehood scattered in fear and dread.
It turned and fled, backing away in full retreat; they tore it apart—
Ninety followers trailed behind it, step for step (2).
Vacillating, their resolve feeble—you would take them
For travellers whom cowardice has kept from setting out (3).
The breadth of the lands grew tight around them
When the lofty rank of Taqī al-Dīn soared above all mankind.
He outstripped every peer of his age,
In knowledge, forbearance, exegesis, and penetrating insight.
He was distinguished by the highest degrees,
Surpassing even the teachers of their teachers of ages long past.
They had imagined that knowledge was theirs alone
Until Aḥmad, champion of transmitted reports, came upon them.
A pillar of the Sacred Law, reviver of justice, defender of the religion of truth,
Seeking support from the verses and the prophetic reports.
With explicit texts and unanimous consensus he shattered their ranks;
Thereafter that assembled host found itself confined and hemmed in (4).
