to the graves (1); for the reply of the scholars of this land was conveyed to their counterparts among the learned and their peers among the people of virtue, and every one of them ruled that the answer he had given was the correct one.
It is obvious to all mankind that honoring this Imām and treating him with veneration and respect ensures (2) the stability of the kingdom, the order of the state, the exaltation of the religious community (3), the attraction of supplications, the crushing of enemies, the humiliation of the people of innovation and caprice, the revival of the umma, the removal of distress, abundant reward, elevated renown, the lifting of hardship, and benefit to the populace (4).
The very tongue of the Muslims now recites the words of the Most Great, the Most High: “So when they came before him they said, ‘O noble one, hardship has befallen us and our family, and we have brought but paltry merchandise; so grant us full measure and be charitable toward us—surely Allah rewards the charitable’” (Yūsuf 12:88).
The paltry merchandise is these pages written with our pens, while the provision we seek is the release of Shaykh al-Islām. What impelled me to make this appeal is the Prophet’s—peace and blessings be upon him—saying (5): “Religion is sincere counsel.” And peace.
May Allah bless our master Muhammad and his good, pure family (6), and grant them abundant peace. This is the end of this book.
