To proceed: we, together with the rest of the brethren, are basking in Allah’s perfect blessings and His all-embracing favors—bounties that surpass(1) every kind of counting and enumeration. Minds are incapable of conceiving or comprehending them, and tongues(2) fall short of depicting or describing them, let alone recording them in writing. We therefore ask Allah [ق 98], the Magnificent, to inspire us to give due thanks for these favors and to keep them constant for us and for all our brothers and the believers. Surely, He is Most Bountiful, Ever-Generous.(3)
Among those favors is the arrival of the noble brother at the guarded frontier post, for the enemies of Allah had intended(4) thereby a number of schemes to harm Islam and its people, imagining that their goal would soon be achieved.(5) Yet their well-known, wicked designs were turned back upon them, reversed from every angle. In the sight of Allah and of the insightful believers they have become—and still remain—black-faced with disgrace, rending themselves with regrets and remorse over what they perpetrated.
All the inhabitants of the frontier have flocked to [the brother], gladly accepting(6) whatever we teach and disseminate(7) from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, as well as our denouncement and censure of their enemies among the people of innovation, misguidance, unbelief, and ignorance—especially the vilest of the atheists: the pantheistic Ittihadiyya(8) and then the Jahmites.
