ʿAbd al-Hādī b. Yūsuf b. Muḥammad b. Qudāmah al-Maqdisī—may Allah cause the benefit of his works to endure.
Beneath that, in the same hand, it reads: “I copied this biographical notice from the handwriting of Shaykh Jamāl al-Dīn al-Mizzī—may Allah have mercy on him and be pleased with him.” By “biographical notice” he meant only the title of the book, not the entire manuscript, as the scribe of copy (B) and others mistakenly thought.
Next, several lines written in a different hand were later erased so thoroughly that nothing remains to indicate their content, save for the closing invocation that was left intact: “And may Allah bless our master Muḥammad, his family, and his Companions, and grant them peace.”
Stamped over this obliterated passage is the endowment seal of the volume: “This is among the items endowed by the vizier Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad, son of the vizier Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad, known as Köprülü—may Allah pardon them both,” beside which appears the book’s shelf number.
Lower down, on the right side, is a phrase—partly lost to the page’s decay—reading: “… for the lowly servant … b. Aḥmad b. … from his benefits and rarities … its author, by His grace and generosity.”
Next to it is a small seal bearing the words: “Each person shall have only what he intended.”
To its left stands a note by the original copyist: “Written for himself with his own erring, perishing hand, the servant of Allah most in need of forgiveness: ʿAbd al-Razzāq b. Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Abī al-Fatḥ b. ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī al-Bazzār (1). May Allah treat him with kindness.”
