6 – The Dār al-Kitāb al-ʿArabī edition, Beirut: a photographic reprint of Muḥammad Ḥāmid al-Fiqī’s critical edition.
– Manuscripts of the work:
1 – The Köprülü “principal” copy, no. 1142:
It consists of 166 folios, transcribed in 758 AH by ʿAbd al-Razzāq b. Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Abī al-Fatḥ b. ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī al-Bazzāz, as stated on the title page (to be quoted below).
Each folio carries 20 lines. The script is a handsome, fully vocalized naskh, though a few mistakes remain.
A mix-up occurred in the ordering of the leaves from ff. 79–106. It seems the quires had come apart and whoever reassembled them failed to restore their proper sequence; the folios were subsequently numbered in this confused order. We have corrected the arrangement, relying on the catchwords the scribe consistently used and on the other manuscripts of the book.
The title written on the outside of the manuscript reads:
“This is a concise book recounting the condition of Shaykh al-Islām, the eminent scholar, Shaykh al-Islām Taqī al-Dīn Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad b. ʿAbd al-Ḥalīm Ibn Taymiyya al-Ḥarrānī, and mentioning some of his merits and writings—may Allah have mercy on him and reward him with Paradise by His gracious mercy. Āmīn.”
Beneath it is written:
“Compiled by the shaykh, imām, scholar, erudite ḥadith master Shams al-Dīn Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbd al-Hādī b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b….”
