Al-Uqud al-DurriyyaIbn Abd al-Hadi

and the enemy came back in a fresh assault (1) without the slightest pause; the would-be helpers were left helpless, unable to do a thing; those on the march were thrown into confusion, knowing neither whence nor whither; every visible means was cut off, the once-overpowering confederations were routed, the supporting contingent withdrew, and the mutually encouraging hearts lost courage. Yet the steadfast band stood firm, the pure hearts (2) were certain of victory, and they called upon Allah to bring to pass His promise to the manifest, triumphant faction (3).

So Allah opened the gates of His heavens for His overwhelming hosts, displayed His dazzling signs in support of the truth, set upright the pillar of the Book after it had leaned, and by His might and power fixed the banner of the religion in place. He rubbed the noses of the people of disbelief and hypocrisy in the dust, ⦗67⦘ and made this an enduring sign for the believers until the Day of Meeting.

May Allah, Exalted is He, complete this favor by uniting the hearts of the people of faith upon striving against the tyrants, make this momentous boon the starting point of every noble bounty and a foundation (4) for restoring the sound Prophetic call, heal the breasts of the believers of their enemies (5), and grant them mastery over those near and those distant. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all creation, and may blessings be upon (6) Muhammad, his family, and his Companions, and may abundant peace be bestowed upon them (7).
