The Meccan copy and Shaykh Khūqayr’s statement both pre-date Shaykh al-Faqī’s printed edition of the book. It is therefore likely that al-Faqī had come across something that justified assigning this particular title, even though he did not cite his source explicitly; we have now produced that source and have, thereby, lifted some of the reproach from him.
For these reasons I have chosen to retain the same title as it appears in the Ḥaram al-Makki manuscript: it is found in two handwritten copies, the book has been published and become well known under that title, and the author himself never coined a formal, distinctive heading of his own.

Al-ʿUqūd al-Bahiyyah fī Dhikr Baʿḍ Manāqib Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (The Lustrous Necklaces on Some of the Merits of Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah).
This designation is found in the two manuscripts preserved at the King Fahd Library (F) and the King Saud University Library (D). Both are late copies, as will be shown, and the latter appears to have been transcribed from the former. -
Al-Durar al-Bahiyyah fī Tarjamat Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (The Shining Pearls: A Biography of Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah).
This name is expressly recorded by the scholar Maḥmūd Shukrī al-Ālūsī in his work Ghāyat al-Amānī fī al-Radd ʿalā al-Nabihānī (1/500, al-Rushd ed.), where he says: “I have seen a book whose title, written on the back of a biography of Shaykh al-Islām and an exposition of his virtues, reads: Al-Durar al-Bahiyyah fī Tarjamat Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah, by the ḥadith master Shaykh Shams al-Dīn Ibn ʿAbd al-Hādī al-Maqdisī….” Thus al-Ālūsī had examined a manuscript carrying this title, though he did not describe it in sufficient detail for us to assess its scholarly value. -
Kitāb al-Intiṣār fī Dhikr Aḥwāl Qāmiʿ al-Mubtadiʿīn wa-Ākhir al-Mujtahidīn Taqī al-Dīn Abī al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad Ibn Taymiyyah (The Book of Vindication: An Account of the Subduer of Innovators and the Last of the Mujtahid Imams, Taqī al-Dīn Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad Ibn Taymiyyah).
This title is written on the first page of the Jerusalem copy (Q).
