and another counsel he wrote for al-Tujībī.
He also issued several ijāzas, among them (1): an ijāza for the people of Ceuta in which he listed his heard narrations; an ijāza he granted to some of the people of Tabriz (4); an ijāza for the people of Granada; and an ijāza for the people of Isfahan.
He produced a great many legal principles and responsa as well, including:
• a principle concerning the Friday Prayer—does it require permanent settlement?
• a principle on wiping over leather socks, and whether the concession extends to an amputee (5);
• a principle [ق 24] on shaving the head—may it be done outside the pilgrimage rites without a valid excuse? (6);
• and principles on istijmār (dry cleansing with stones) and on whether the earth is purified by sun and wind (7).
