Al-Uqud al-DurriyyaIbn Abd al-Hadi

China, his journey would surely not be in vain (1).
Among them is the book Minhāj al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah fī Naqd Kalām al-Shīʿah al-Qadariyyah (The Prophetic Sunnah’s Methodology for Refuting the Assertions of the Qadari Shiʿah) (2), issued in three volumes, though some copies run to four (3). In it he refuted Ibn al-Muṭahhar, the Rāfiḍī (4), exposing the ignorance and misguidance of the Rāfiḍah (5) together with their lies and fabrications.
Among his writings as well is the work Jawāb al-Iʿtirāḍāt al-Miṣriyyah ʿalā al-Futyā al-Ḥamawiyyah, appearing in four volumes, although certain copies (6) are shorter (7).

(1) Ibn al-Qayyim mentions it in his poem al-Nuniyyah, saying: “So too ‘The Foundation’—its Refutation has become a marvel to every god-fearing scholar.” (2) Copy F adds “and the Qadariyya,” whereas T reads “the Shiʿa.” The author himself states the title inside the work: “For this reason this book is entitled Minhaj Ahl al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah fi Naqd Kalam al-Shiʿa wal-Qadariyya” (Minhaj, 2/199). (3) The book was published in nine volumes by Imam University (Riyadh), edited by Dr. Muhammad Rashad Salim. (4) The adversary is Hasan (or Husayn) ibn Yusuf ibn al-Mutahhar al-Hilli al-‘Iraqi, Abu Mansur (d. 726/1326), a prolific Shiʿi author. The work refuted is Minhaj al-Karama—also known as al-Istiqama—fi Maʿrifat (or Ithbat) al-Imama. See al-Bidaya wa-l-Nihaya 18:271–72 and al-Durrar al-Kamina 2:71–72. (5) Copies B and Q read: “and their misguidance.” (6) This phrase is absent from B and Q. (7) Ibn Rashiq (p. 294) also says the work comprised four volumes, while others say six, as Ibn al-Qayyim versified in al-Nuniyyah: “Likewise his Egyptian replies— six copious tomes were set down.” The target of the refutation was Qadi Shams al-Din Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Saruji al-Hanafi (d. 710/1310), whom Ibn Taymiyyah called “the best of the opposing judges” (Bayan Talbis al-Jahmiyyah, 1:6). His biography appears in al-Jawahir al-Mudiyyah 1:123 and al-Bidaya wa-l-Nihaya 18:107. Two fragments of Ibn Taymiyyah’s reply have been printed in a slim volume within this series (Athar Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah), edited by our colleague, the researcher Shaykh Muhammad ‘Aziz Shams.
