punishment, without the alleviation they had in this world. He also says:
“But whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a life of hardship.” [Tā Hā: 124]
This means before this world comes to an end, for He then says:
“And We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” [Tā Hā: 124]
He thus makes clear that this life of hardship precedes the Day of Resurrection. Our observation of Jews, Christians, and polytheists living in ease and comfort shows that He did not mean restricted provision in this worldly life, since some polytheists enjoy abundant provision. Rather, He meant the period after death and before the gathering.
[The Questioning by Munkar and Nakīr]
They believe in the questioning by Munkar and Nakīr, as established in the report from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, together with the words of Allah Most High:
“Allah keeps those who believe firm with the firm word, in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah lets the wrongdoers go astray, and Allah does whatever He wills.” [Ibrāhīm: 27]
