and being contrite before Him, submitting to His majesty, fearing Him, praising Him with their tongues, and thanking and worshipping Him with their limbs. Revering Him also means fearing Him as He should be feared, so that He is obeyed and not disobeyed, remembered and not forgotten, and thanked rather than treated with ingratitude. It also means honoring what He has made sacred and prescribed, whether times, places or deeds:
“That is so. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah—indeed, this stems from the piety of hearts” 1,
and:
“That is so. And whoever honors the sacred ordinances of Allah—it is better for him with his Lord” 2.
Revering Him also means not objecting to anything He has created or prescribed3.
56 – The All-Pardoning4: (The All-Pardoning5 – The All-Forgiving6 – The Oft-Forgiving)
He, may Allah Most High have mercy on him, said: “The All-Pardoning, the All-Forgiving, the Oft-Forgiving: He has always been, and will always be, known for His pardon and described as forgiving and overlooking His servants’ faults.
Everyone is utterly in need of His pardon and forgiveness, just as they are in need of His mercy and generosity. He has promised forgiveness and pardon to those who undertake the means of attaining them. Allah Most High says:
‘Yet I am indeed All-Forgiving to whoever repents, believes and does good, then remains rightly guided’ 7 8.”
