The All-Generous, the Reckoner, the Preserver

18 – The All-Generous2:

He, may Allah Most High have mercy on him, said:

“The All-Generous: this means that He, Most High, is absolutely generous. His generosity encompasses all beings, filling them with His bounty, munificence, and varied blessings. He bestows particular generosity upon those who ask, whether through spoken words or through their circumstances, whether righteous or wicked, Muslim or unbeliever. Whoever asks Allah, He grants his request and gives him what he seeks, for He is the Most Kind, the Merciful:

‘Whatever blessing you have is from Allah. Then, when hardship touches you, it is to Him that you cry for help.’ 3.

Part of His boundless generosity is what He has prepared for His devoted servants in the abode of bliss: what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived4.

The All-Generous is He whose generosity encompasses the inhabitants of heaven and earth. Whatever blessings His servants enjoy come from Him. When hardship touches them, they turn to Him and humbly implore Him. No creature is without His kindness even for the blink of an eye. Yet His servants differ in the generosity bestowed upon them, according to the means Allah has graciously granted them that bring about His generosity and munificence. The greatest of these is perfecting servitude to Allah, outwardly and inwardly, in knowledge and practice, through words, deeds, and wealth, and fulfilling it by following Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in every movement and moment of rest.”5.
