Tafsir Asma Allah al-Husna li-al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

Principal Reasons for Choosing This Subject:

1 - The immense importance of believing in Allah’s most beautiful names: knowing them is the foundation of faith, and faith ultimately returns to them. This is because of the nobility and greatness of the One to whom they refer, and the obligation to know Him Most High as He has described Himself and as His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has described Him, as explained above.

2 - The scarcity of writings on this subject that follow the methodology of the early generations of the Muslim community.

3 - Al-Sa‘dī’s explanation of Allah’s most beautiful names is distinguished by its comprehensiveness and precise understanding, following the methodology of the early generations of the Muslim community. It also explores in depth the significance of these names for faith and explains the effects of believing in them, in a manner seldom found in the works of others. May Allah Most High have mercy on him.

4 - While reading al-Sa‘dī’s Quran commentary, I found that he had devoted a chapter to explaining Allah’s most beautiful names after his commentary on Surah al-Nahl. May Allah have mercy on him.

I felt a desire to publish this chapter separately from the commentary so that its benefit might reach more people and those seeking it could obtain it easily, since its location within the commentary is not where a reader would expect to find it. Having firmly resolved to do so, I consulted some scholars and colleagues, who welcomed the idea. They advised me to supplement this chapter with all the material explaining Allah’s most beautiful names found in the books of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Rahmān al-Sa‘dī, may Allah have mercy on him, and to compile, arrange and publish it.

Among those who contributed greatly to this undertaking was our brother Dr. ‘Abd al-Razzāq ibn ‘Abd al-Muhsin al-‘Abbād, may Allah Most High grant him success. He kindly provided me with an index of the passages concerning Allah’s most beautiful names in the books of Ibn Sa‘dī, may Allah Most High have mercy on him. May Allah reward him most generously.

For these and other reasons, I wished to publish this collection. Allah is the One who guides to the straight path.

أهم أسباب اختيار الموضوع: ١ - عظم أمر الإيمان بأسماء الله الحسنى إذ إن معرفتها هو أصل الإيمان، والإيمان يرجع إليها. وذلك لشرف متعلقها، وعظمته، ووجوب معرفته تعالى كما وصف نفسه ووصفه نبيه ﷺ كما سبق. ٢ - ندرة الكتابة في هذا الموضوع على منهج سلف الأمة. ٣ - لما يتّسم به شرح الأسماء الحسنى للسّعديّ من شمول، ودقة في الفهم على منهج سلف الأمة، مع غوص في بيان المعاني الإيمانيّة للأسماء الحسنى، وبيان آثار الإيمان بها، قلّ أن تجده عند غيره رحمه الله تعالى. ٤ - من خلال مطالعتي لتفسير السعدي ﵀، وجدته عقد فصلاً في شرح الأسماء الحسنى بعد تفسيره لسورة النحل. ووجدت في نفسي رغبة في إخراجه، وطباعته مستقلاً عن التفسير لتعمّ الفائدة ويسهل حصوله لمريده، حيث إن موضعه في التفسير ليس مظنّة لقاصده، وبعد العزم، والتصميم على ذلك، استشرت بعض المشايخ، والزملاء، فوجدت منهم استحساناً للأمر، وأشاروا عليَّ بأن أزيد على هذا الفصل كل ما يتعلق بشرح الأسماء الحسنى من كتب الشيخ عبد الرحمن السّعديّ ﵀ وجمعها، وترتيبها، وإخراجها. وكان ممن له أثر كبير في ذلك الأخ الدكتور/ عبد الرزاق بن عبد المحسن العباد وفقه الله تعالى، حيث أتحفني بفهرس لمواطن الأسماء الحسنى من كتب ابن سعدي رحمه الله تعالى فجزاه الله خير الجزاء. ولهذه الأسباب وغيرها رغبت في إخراج هذا المجموع، والله الهادي لسواء السبيل.
