Allah, Lord of the worlds.”1.
Among the manifestations of Allah’s subtle kindness towards His servant is that He decrees an act of goodness and generosity from one servant, channels it through another, and makes the latter the means by which it reaches its rightful recipient. Allah thus rewards them both.
Among the manifestations of Allah’s subtle kindness towards His servant is that He causes some of his wealth to bring benefit and good to others, rewarding him in ways he does not expect. Whoever plants a tree or sows a crop from which any living creature whose life is protected obtains something, Allah rewards its owner without his knowing. This is especially so if he has a good intention and makes a covenant with his Lord, saying, “Whatever benefit may come from my wealth, I ask You, my Lord, to reward me for it and make it a means of drawing nearer to You.” The same applies if he owns livestock whose milk is used, or which are ridden or used to carry loads; dwellings from which others benefit by living in them, even to a small extent; utensils or similar objects that others use; or a spring from which others drink. Other examples include a book from which someone learns something, or a copy of the Quran that someone reads. Allah is the Possessor of immense bounty.
Among the manifestations of Allah’s subtle kindness towards His servant is that He opens for him a door to goodness that had never occurred to him—not because he lacked the desire for it, but because he had been heedless and unaware of that path. Suddenly, he finds in his heart an impulse drawing his attention to it and urging him towards it. He rejoices and recognizes this as part of his Master’s subtle kindness and the means He has arranged to bring it to him. He therefore sets his heart upon it, directs his thoughts towards it, and attains as much of it as Allah wills.”2.
